Fetus, 18 weeksThe story behind this photo was the first picture of a fetus. This picture brought questions up about life, most of these pictures were of babies that were aborted. I take abortion very seriously, so I don’t like the history of this photo and how it was produced. I am pro-life, it brings emotions of sadness. I take human life very seriously. Their trying to show how a fetus looks, it is intriguing because its a baby the first part of life.

Behind Closed DoorsThe meaning behind this photo was to capture that abuse does happen, mostly it was behind close doors. The photographer wanted to show people that it does happen she would capture photos of people who were getting abused . I don’t like this photo because of the violence in it. For me personally it evokes anger. She was showing that abuse really does happen. It intrigues me because the person who took this photo was a bystander, who instead of helping the victim she’s taking photos.

Bloody SaturdayThe meaning behind this photo is after Japan attacked a town in China  a photographer arrived to capture the after math, The photographer then took the picture of a Chinese baby who’s mother laid dead near the tracks, the photographer then ran to grab the baby, but the father came over and grabbed the baby before the photographer could. It shows the violence that happen during this time period, it showed the violence the United States chose to ignore. I don’t like it causes a very sad feeling, that these are things people went through. It intrigued because there’s a baby crying left alone on a railroads.

  • Describe your first impression of his work.

My first impression of Aaron Siskind is his pictures of basic things but how he uses black and white. The details are very vivid and descriptive. The shading in the pictures also makes them look dark and like a shadow.

  • Explain how Aaron Siskind achieves abstraction.

He achieves abstraction by the use of black and white and the simple basics of the pictures. He makes the pictures look sorta suspenseful. The simplicity of the pictures also makes them more warming.

The use of lines are important, also the shading. The use of black and white bring out the picture more, it catches your eye.

Not trying so hard but looking for the basics and using simple skills. Using different colors, adding filters could help avhieve these pictures.
